Important points to know

Medical Certificate is a must.

As in the case of Kedarnath yatra, a medical certificate is required stating that you are medically fit. Some people with breathing problems or diabetes may have difficulties while on their journey so it is advised to carry your own stack of medicines along with you wherever you go.

You may not get all the required medicines at some of these hill stations.

In case you don’t have a medical certificate you can get one by going through a medical checkup in a medical centre or camp while you are on your way to Badrinath.

Planning your stay, Hotels in Badrinath

As I told you in my previous post about Kedarnath yatra that planning your stay beforehand is a must because of the limited availability of hotels and harsh and unpredicted weather condition you cannot afford to stay anywhere.

So plan your stay well in advance. Here are some hotels and their prices as shown in Trivago.

Registration for Badrinath Yatra

Registration is mandatory for Badrinath yatra if you want to go to only Badrinath or the Char Dham Yatra as per your travel plan.

Registration for each person has to be done which can either be done at physical counters located in Haridwar near the railway station and market place.

You can also register yourself and your family members online. This helps the government to keep a track on the number of people visiting the holy shrine and to make proper arrangements accordingly.

Best time to visit Badrinath

Badrinath Dham opens for the pilgrims and visitors in the month of May and this year it will open on May 10 and generally closes in November. In the summers the Badrinath Dham experiences a huge number of visitors on a daily basis.

It is recommended to visit Badrinath in May or after the monsoon season as the day time temperature is a bit warm enabling you to visit different places around but the temperature at night drops below 10-degree Celsius.

As the monsoon kicks in after mid-June, Uttrakhand experiences heavy rainfall which causes roadblocks and traffic jams on the route.

You can visit Badrinath Dham till 2nd week of November before the closing of the Gates but the weather is so freezing during winters due to snowfall on the Himalayas.
